Here we are in January 2015. I thought the days of blogging my thoughts were long gone, but all of the sudden I have the itch to write again. I have always loved writing. I started young with a prayer journal. I have just always loved to write. I am in the process of trying to update the scenery around here, but I am ready to post. So here we are a couple of years since my last post and I am picking up in Exodus.
Exodus chapter 1 is such an encouraging chapter for the child of God. Yes, it records the children of Israel's beginning in bondage. A new king was in Egypt. I picture him short in stature, small, with a big mouth. I have no history to back this image. I have not even researched it to this point, I like picturing him little. He felt threatened by God's chosen. Verse eight tells us he didn't know Joseph. He saw that the children of Israel were fruitful, large in number, and mighty and it made him shake in his boots. He set taskmasters over them to afflict them and bring them into bondage. A horrible thing for God's chosen people. But, you know what I LOVE about this chapter?? "The more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew." I LOVE THAT!!
It happens again further in the chapter. Pharaoh told the midwives to kill the men children as soon as they were born, but the midwives couldn't do it because they feared God. And then, "the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty."
How does this relate to us today? Let me tell you what jumps out at me in this chapter. The devil is fighting on every side. It can be overwhelming at times. There are times we feel afflicted or in bondage. We have test, storms, trials in life that can sometimes beat us down. BUT as a child of God even in the middle of what ever you are going through, you are multiplying and growing! When you feel like your beat down and you don't know which way to turn, that spirit man within you is becoming a giant that has the devil shaking in his boots! Be encouraged, even in the storms of life and rest in the fact that God is fighting your battles and no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Be like David and encourage yourself in the Lord. God is working on a spiritual giant and what you are facing right now is causing you to grow, multiply, and become mighty in the Lord!
Exodus 1:11 ... 12
Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. .....BUT THE MORE THEY AFFLICTED THEM, THE MORE THEY MULTIPLIED AND GREW.
Exodus 1:20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: AND THE PEOPLE MULTIPLIED, AND WAXED VERY MIGHTY.
