~Slow To Speak~

Proverbs 16:24

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

It may be easy for some, but some days it is like climbing Mount Everest for me. My prayer today is that the Lord help me to guard my tongue and my heart. My mouth seems to fly open too quickly when something hits close to my heart. Jesus help me to guard my heart. Help me to be patient, to show mercy and be slow to speak.

Proverbs is full of verses telling us guard what comes out of our mouth. James chapter 3 tells us what an unruly member our tongue can be. We all have different strengths and weaknesses, but as followers of Christ we are striving to be more like him and to have his attributes. One day at a time!

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, with out partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
